Gilas Pilipinas Women’s journey in the FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup concluded on Sunday.
The Philippines was overwhelmed by Chinese-Taipei, falling 19-9 in the quarterfinals at the Singapore Sports Hub in OCBC Square.
Gilas, who had to navigate through the qualifying draw to reach this stage, struggled throughout the 10-minute match, managing just six points in the first 2:25 of play.
Chinese-Taipei had already established a seven-point lead by then.
Yu Chieh Chen, Shih-Han Hsu, and Hung-Ting Kuo then sealed the victory to advance to face New Zealand in the semis.
Camille Clarin and Mikka Cacho scored three points each for Gilas, while Jhazmin Joson was limited to just one point on 1-of-6 shooting.
Kuo and Chen led Chinese-Taipei with eight points each.
Nevertheless, it was a valiant effort from the Filipinas in this tournament.
Gilas defeated Tahiti (21-3), Maldives (19-11), and Kazakhstan (21-12) in Pool C to advance.
In the main draw, they dominated Mongolia (19-8) and Malaysia (17-10) to reach the semifinals — the same position they held a year ago.
The Scores:
Chinese Taipei 19 – Chen 8, Kuo 8, Hsu 3, Cheng 0.
Philippines 9 – Clarin 3, Cacho 3, Pingol 2, Joson 1.
