Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 is all geared up for the FIBA 3×3 Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Graz, Austria next week — literally and figuratively.
Joshua Munzon, the country’s top 3×3 player, unveiled via Instagram on Tuesday what could be the Nationals’ kits for the prestigious meet.
And boy, the Nike-made jerseys scream Filipino pride.
What stands out the most in the new uniforms is the incorporation of the Philippine flag on the side panels — complete with the Three Stars and the Sun.
The uniforms come in blue and white sets, with the former featuring striking yellow text — the PILIPINAS on the chest and the number.
The white one, meanwhile, features the typical blue text.
This new iteration of Gilas uniforms is totally distinct from what the team has been wearing since the 2019 FIBA World Cup.
Unlike the new jerseys, the old ones only come in a simple blue-and-white scheme and did not feature even a bit of red or yellow shade.
Will this also be the kits that Gilas 5-on-5 will wear for the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers’ third window in Clark? That remains to be seen.
But for now, the jerseys could be seen first in the OQT, which is scheduled on May 26-30 and has three tickets to the Tokyo Olympics at stake.
