Needing to get the games in, Yeng Guiao organized a scrimmage between Gilas Pilipinas and his club team NLEX Road Warriors, Wednesday morning at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.
“Of course, hindi ko ine-expect na magki-click agad tayo. That’s the reason na mag-tuneup tayo, is because we can assess, we can reevaluate after every game what we need to do,” said Guiao.
The scrimmage had four 10 minute quarters, winning three of the four.
After falling 13-22 in Game One, the nationals were able to get Game Two, 21-17.
Gilas followed it up with a 21-0 shutout in Game 3 before closing things out with a 20-14 triumph.
Playing for Gilas were Kiefer Ravena, Robert Bolick, CJ Perez, Andray Blatche, Raymond Almazan, Matthew Wright, Mark Barroca, and Paul Lee.
NLEX fielded Asi Taulava, Jericho Cruz, JR Quinahan, Olu Ashaolu, Philip Paniamogan, Kenneth Ighalo, Cyrus Baguio, and Eman Monfort.
The two squads will once again figure in a tune-up tomorrow.
