Gilas Pilipinas Men ended their European trip on a high note, schooling a fairly young Lithuanian team, 125-102, Saturday evening (Manila time) at Kaunas, Lithuania.
The Lithuanian team is composed of mid-20s student-athletes that are bound to represent their country in the FISU World University Games next month.
Down 63-61 at the half, the Philippines put the clamps on Lithuania in the third canto.
With June Mar Fajardo and Justin Brownlee anchoring the defense, Gilas shackled Lithuania to the tune of just a 3-of-22 shooting from the field while forcing six turnovers.
On the offensive end, Brownlee also poured 11 of his 24 points during that quarter, helping Gilas erect a 98-73 lead at the half.
CJ Perez and the rest of Gilas put the finishing touches in the last 12 minutes of the game.
Fajardo led Gilas with 28 points to go with four rebounds, two steals, and a block.
Kiefer Ravena added 18 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the field while Perez and Abando chipped in 14 and 12 markers, respectively. Jamie Malonzo also produced a line of 11 points and nine rebounds.
Arnas Berucka, the oldest in the team at 26, paced Lithuania with 15 points. Dominykas Stenionis and Ernestas Sederivicius scored 14 apiece as well.
Gilas will head back home to prepare for a pocket tournament in China.
