Gilas Pilipinas Men is starting to call up the reinforcements for the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers’ third window.
Young buck Mason Amos has received a phone call from the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas to join the pool for the tournament.
Amos confirmed the development first disclosed by his Australian club Southern Districts to Tiebreaker Times.
Amos, 18, is committed to join Ateneo de Manila University for UAAP Season 86.
The 6-foot-7 Fil-Australian, who traces his roots in Pampanga, has played in there games for far in NBL1, averaging 3.33 points and 1.66 rebounds for the Spartans.
However, Amos shared that he is still waiting for one thing — his clearance from FIBA.
Gilas will be facing the Tall Blacks in Auckland on June 30 and India at home on July 3.
The nationals only have 11 players in the pool so far in Kiefer Ravena, Dwight Ramos, William Navarro, Carl Tamayo, SJ Belangel, RJ Abarrientos, Geo Chiu, Lebron Lopez, Rhenz Abando, Kevin Quiambao, and Dave Ildefonso.
Ange Kouame is out due to a partial ACL tear.
