The match is set as Mercito “No Mercy” Gesta (28-1-2, 16KOs) and Miguel Angel Mendoza (22-6-2, 21KOs) made weight for their lightweight bout during the official weigh-ins earlier today at the StubHub Center in Carson, California.
Both men came in a shade below the lightweight limit with Gesta tipping in the scales at 134.8 pounds and Mendoza at 134.2 pounds.
“No Mercy” Gesta attempts to secure another victory after earning a split decision draw with his performance opposite Carlos Molina whereas Mendoza guns for his second straight win since losing to Robert Easter last June in the undercard of the Adrien Broner – Shawn Porter tilt held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Gesta – Mendoza fight will be at the undercard of the main event that features a title bout for the vacant WBC world super bantamweight title between Argentinian Lucas Matthysse (37-3, 34KOs) and the undefeated Viktor Postol (27-0, 11KOs) of Ukraine.
