Gary David motivated by Norman Black to play his usual game

Meralco may be one of the scrappiest teams in the PBA today, but the Bolts still need the explosiveness of El Granada Gary David.

Learning their lesson from the 41-point massacre at the hands of the Alaska Aces last time out, David presided on the team’s offense and energized the Bolts’ offensive game to get back on track. David finished with 23 points against the NLEX Road Warriors.

“Sinabihan ako ni Coach Norman (Black) na kailangan maglaro ako ng maayos. Yun ang challenge niya sa akin,” David told mediamen after the game. “Gusto niya ibalik ko yung dati kong laro para makarating kami sa gusto naming marating — playoffs.”

It was the most productive game for David under Black, who acknowledged David’s performance. “He played a great game for us,” added Black. “He stepped up for us.”

Despite a big game from David, Black believes the players are still trying to learn the team’s system. “It’s still a work in progress,” added Black.
