Basilan-Jumbo Plastic ended its elimination round campaign on a rousing note, handing Parañaque-Yabo Sports an 18-point beating, 89-71, in the 2019-20 Chooks-to-Go/MPBL Lakan Season at the Marikina Sports Center, Friday.
Gab Dagangon fired 26 points on 10-of-20 shooting from the field, along with five rebounds and two assists, to help the Steel lock up the third seed in the Southern Division with a 20-10 standing.
Already up by 10 points in the final frame, Japs Bautista instigated a 12-1 blast to take an 89-68 advantage with 22 seconds left, completely slamming the doors shut for the Patriots.
“Secured ‘yung number three spot, ‘yun naman ‘yung sinasabi ko. Ayaw ko kasi ‘yung sa dulo close game pa, baka masilat pa kami,” said Basilan head coach Jerson Cabiltes.
Michole Sorela had 12 points and four rebounds. Meanwhile, Jay Collado tallied a double-double of 11 points and 15 rebounds for Basilan.
On the other hand, Keith Pido paced the also-ran Parañaque with 14 points on a 6-of-13 shooting clip.
Jayboy Solis added 13 points and 10 rebounds. Dale Begaso had 10 points and seven boards in a losing cause.
The Yabo Sports-backed squad ended the eliminations with an 8-22 win-loss slate.
