Will there be another dynasty in the NCAA?
Colegio de San Juan de Letran received a pleasant surprise on Tuesday evening during the victory celebration of the Squires at Choi Garden in Greenhills.
Team booster Frank Lao surprised the school after pledging to support its juniors basketball program for five more years.
And no one was more grateful than reigning Coach of the Year Allen Ricardo.
“We need to build a team that is serious to win because our manager and school are very supportive and we don’t want to let them down,” said the first-year Squires head coach, who is also a product of Letran.
“We’ll make sure that all 18 players in the lineup can compete at the highest level,” he added.
“We are looking to achieve a back-to-back.”
Last March 16, the Squires ended a 22-year title drought after sweeping La Salle Green Hills in the best-of-three finals.
It also gave Letran a rare ‘double’ — a feat last achieved by San Beda back in NCAA Season 90.
“Looking forward to building a dynasty with Boss Frank,” expressed Ricardo.
The championship celebration was a night filled with laughter and games as Lao also held a raffle for the players.
Prizes included Beats Earbuds, Apple Watches, Airpods Max, and a PlayStation 5.
And by some stroke of luck, Finals MVP Andy Gemao won the PS5.
One4BF? Well, the Squires are hoping for Six4BF.
