Foton activates Eya Laure as Maika Ortiz tears ACL

Hard-hitting UST spiker Eya Laure is set to make her club debut.

According to a report by the Daily Tribune, Foton Tornadoes Blue Energy have called up Laure to the team for the rest of the season.

The UAAP Season 81 Women’s Volleyball Rookie of the Year will replace Maika Ortiz in the lineup. Ortiz suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during Foton’s game against Petron last Saturday.

Laure was on Foton’s reserve list at the start of the 2019 PSL All Filipino Conference, as she was still recovering from the grind of the collegiate season.

The 20-year-old will make her debut on Tuesday, August 13 when Foton face the Marinerang Pilipina Lady Skippers at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.

Laure will do double-duty as well, since the UST Golden Tigresses are set to take part in the 2019 PVL Collegiate Conference, which opens its curtains this weekend.

With just one game left in their elimination round campaign, Foton sit in fifth place with a 7-6 record.
