Filoil: Jerom Lastimosa heats up as Adamson sinks Perpetual for 3-0 slate

Jerom Lastimosa finally balled out for Adamson University, leading his side to a 68-61 win over University of Perpetual  Help System DALTA in Group A of the 2022 Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup, Wednesday in San Juan City.

Lastimosa was averaging just 8.5 points prior to the game. This time, though, he got 18 points in the contest in 25 minutes of action.

Leading by as many as 17 points, the Soaring Falcons had a slow start in the final frame. That allowed Perpetual to get to as close as four points, 65-61, after a Jielo Razon free throw with 34 seconds remaining.

Lastimos, though, had other plans. He buried a deep three with 13.1 ticks left to seal the win.

“We told our team during half that Perpetual is a good team to play in the preseason because they play tough and they have mature… Mga veteran players e. So sabi ko nga, let’s take advantage of this opportunity na makalaro sila,” said Adamson head coach Nash Racela.

Matty Erolon and Vince Magbuhos supplied 10 points apiece for the Soaring Falcons. The former added five rebounds, two assists, and two steals, while the latter had eight rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Adamson hiked its record to 3-0 to rise to second place in the stacked group while dropping Perpetual to 1-2.

Marcus Nitura and Jielo Razon led the Altas with 16 and 15 points, respectively. Nitura got eight rebounds and three steals, while Razon got four rebounds, five assists, and a steal as well.

Kim Aurin also supplied 10 markers.
