Filoil allows Ateneo, UST in for Preseason Cup


All teams from the UAAP and the NCAA are now slated to compete in the 2022 Filoil Ecooil Preseason Cup.

Ateneo de Manila University and University of Santo Tomas have been added to the roster of teams that will compete in the country’s premier preseason tournament which tips off on July 23 at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

Earlier only six UAAP teams and all NCAA squads registered for the tournament.

It is still unknown though which group the Blue Eagles and the Growling Tigers will be slotted in.

Ateneo will be competing in the World University Basketball Series in Tokyo from August 9 to 11 while UST is currently playing in the 2022 PBA D-League Aspirants Cup.

Initially in Group A is defending UAAP champion NCAA runner-up Mapua University, Adamson University, San Beda University, National University, Arellano University, San Sebastian College-Recoletos, and Jose Rizal University.

In Pool B, meanwhile, are NCAA king Colegio de San Juan de Letran, De La Salle University, University of Perpetual Help System DALTA, Far Eastern University, College of Saint Benilde, University of the East, Emilio Aguinaldo College, and Lyceum of the Philippines University.

The elimination round of the tournament will be from July 23-August 21.

The quarterfinals is set on August 23, the semis on the 25th, and the final on the 27th.
