Filipino-American guard Kihei Clark has signed a deal with the Kumamoto Volters for the 2023-24 B.League Division II season.
Unlike his Filipino counterparts, the 5-foot-10 guard will join the Volters as a world import.
“I’m looking forward to the upcoming season. I want to thank coach Hironaka and the Volters organization for taking a chance on me,” said the 24-year-old.
“I can’t wait to get to work. Let’s have a good year!”
Clark spent five years at the University of Virginia, where he played a pivotal role in the team’s NCAA championship victory in 2019.
After going undrafted in the 2023 NBA Draft, he spent a year with the Milwaukee Bucks’ G League affiliate, the Wisconsin Herd, continuing to develop his game.
Now, Clark begins a new chapter as an overseas import, bringing his talent and experience to the Japanese professional basketball scene.
This move is particularly significant as it brings him closer to his motherland, the Philippines.
The Volters finished fifth last season.
