Gilas Pilipinas Women 3×3 swept their first two assignments in the qualifying draw of the 2024 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup on Wednesday at the Singapore Sports Hub, OCBC Square.
The Philippines ripped Tahiti to open the day, winning 21-3 (9:38), before defeating the Maldives 19-11.
This sets up a win-or-go-home clash against Kazakhstan on Thursday at 12:20 p.m., with the winner advancing to Pool C alongside Malaysia and Mongolia.
Kazakhstan also emerged victorious against Maldives and Tahiti, winning 17-11 and 14-10, respectively, earlier in the day.
Jhazmin Joson caught fire for Gilas against Tahiti, scoring 10 points on four deuces — including the game-winner with 22 seconds left.
However, it was Mikka Cacho who remained consistent in both games, dropping a total of 15 points in the two outings.
Against the Maldives, the country’s top-ranked player Kaye Pingol also contributed eight markers — the same output as Cacho.
