Lervin Flores and Samboy De Leon stepped up big for Gilas Pilipinas Men’s 3×3, lifting the Philippines to a crucial 21-17 (9:43) win over Singapore to open their Pool C campaign in the 2022 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup, Saturday in Singapore.
Flores got six points while De Leon added five.
Tied at 16-all after Mah Jun Hao converted a free throw off a Joseph Eriobu technical, Almond Vostros found a cutting Flores to break the deadlock.
Vostros again did the same play, this time with De Leon receiving.
After a Lim Jun Yuan bucket, Flores answered right back to send Gilas to matchpoint with 30 seconds left.
Vosotros closed the deal with a fader 13 seconds later.
Vosotros also got six points for Gilas, while Joseph Eriobu added four markers.
Gilas will next face China at 8:25 PM.
Lim Jun Yuan led Singapore with seven points, while Lim Wee Kiat added six points.
