Meanwhile, NUNS’ pair of Vilmarie Toos and Faith Mangyao kept their perfect record intact by defeating UPIS’ Janella Guarino and Elisha Capus, 21-16, 21-9.

They then overcame University of Santo Tomas’ Cheng Dadang and Angelica Del Mar, 21-17, 21-16.

The loss to NUNS marked the first defeat of the season for the three-peat-seeking Tiger Sands, who entered the day with a 2-0 record.

FEU-D and NUNS are set to face off for the solo lead on Sunday at 10:45 AM.

Adamson University snapped its two-game losing streak as Gonzalvo teamed up with Maegan Pineda — who replaced Adem before the match — to cruise past De La Salle-Zobel’s Aislinn Alemaña and Sabine Valdez, 21-10, 21-9.

Both the Junior Fighting Maroons and the Junior Lady Spikers remain winless after three matches.
