Ferrer, Wright return to Gilas practice; TNT backup Myers practices

Ten Gilas-Pilipinas cadets were present during the second practice of the men’s national basketball team, Thursday night at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City. This is for the preparation of the team for the 2017 Southeast Asian Games and the Jones Cup.

Making their return to duty are Phoenix Fuel Masters rookie Matthew Wright and Barangay Ginebra’s Kevin Ferrer.

TNT Katropa’s back-up reinforcement Mike Myers also helped in today’s practice. The 6-foot-8 American is TNT’s insurance if Joshua Smith’s right foot injury worsens.

Also present were Wright’s and Ferrer’s batchmates Ed Daquioag, Von Pessumal, Alfonzo Gotladera, and Almond Vosotros. Absent from that batch are Jiovani Jalalon and Carl Cruz, the latter is in a team-building session with the Alaska Aces.

Bobby Ray Parks Jr. and Raymar Jose, two members of the new cadets batch, suited-up as well. Batchmates Kiefer Ravena and Kobe Paras are still in France and will return tomorrow. Christian Standhardinger is set to make his first Gilas practice next week.

17-year-old AJ Edu was once again present to help prep him for the upcoming 2017 FIBA U-18 3×3 World Cup while 19-year-old Filipino-Malaysian Zachary Benares trained with the team.

Mac Belo was once again on the sidelines.
