Family is what keeps Dwight Ramos in Ateneo

Dwight Ramos definitely caught the attention of PBA scouts during his spectacular run in Gilas Pilipinas.

“I think he’s PBA ready kasi magagamit at magagamit siya eh,” two-time PBA Coach of the Year Jong Uichico told 2OT about the 6-foot-5 combo guard.

“Kung sa Gilas nga nagagamit siya eh, what more doon sa PBA where he will be really a factor?”

Despite not playing a single game yet for Ateneo, Ramos can already enter the 2021 PBA Rookie Draft.

At 22 years old, he already meets the age requirement. Ramos is also four years removed from high school, as he graduated from Walnut HS back in 2016.

And his documents are complete.

But for Ramos, he will not choose to. And it is because of family.

In Ateneo, he has the chance of not only playing alongside fellow Cal Poly-Pomona product in Chris Koon, but also with his younger brother Eli.

“I’m super excited to play with them both but I mean playing with your brother is a dream.

“That’s why I’m really excited to play with him. He’s a good defender, he’s fast, he’s more of a driver type of guy, so it will be fun playing with him – he plays with a lot of energy,” Dwight gushed about Eli during an episode of The Prospects Pod, presented by SMART Sports.

“Chris is really like a smart basketball player, can shoot the ball really well,” he added about Koon, on the other hand.

Dwight will have two years of eligibility for Ateneo. During that time, he just wants to enjoy it with his brother and his good friend.

“It will be fun playing with both of them. They’re two good players.”
