Facing tall Akari was a learning experience for Creamline, says Tots Carlos

Creamline had to work doubly hard to secure its tenth consecutive win after facing a tough challenge from Akari in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference elimination round on Thursday night.

The Cool Smashers initially trailed in the opening set before mounting a significant comeback.

However, their efforts fell short as the Chargers – despite being considered the underdogs – maintained their composure to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

Despite the setback, Creamline, known for its resilience, managed to crawl back. They defeated Akari in four sets, 26-28, 25-14, 25-23, 25-22, extending their winning streak and remaining unbeaten.

Tots Carlos, reflecting on the challenging match, emphasized the significance of overcoming the Chargers and believes it will be beneficial for their upcoming campaign in the semifinals.

“It was a good game. I think that was the scenario na naging sitwasyon. Dahil na paparating ang semis, nagkaroon kami ng ganitong situation na i-push through ang mga sarili namin to execute and really bring out our game,” said the three-time PVL MVP.

“I think, yung sitwasyon kanina, malaki pa rin sila eh. So, kami ata yung pinakamaliit na team so naging maganda rin yun for us kasi matututo kami maglaro with tall players parang pano pumalo ng malalaking blockers. Ang ganda rin ng schedule na nakatapat namin sila today going to the semifinals kasi nakapaglaro kami ng maganda talaga.”

Carlos contributed a game-high 23 points with 21 attacks and two blocks in the win.

Following the match, she pledged to maintain their momentum heading into their final elimination match against Galeries Tower.

“Like what you said, magtutuloy-tuloy ang momentum. Kami naman, every game, importante naman yun. Siyempre, goal namin, manalo every game, mag-top one and hindi naman naming control kung sino ang makakalaro namin,” said Carlos.

“Like what I said kanina, mga nagkakaroon ng iba’t-ibang sitwasyon heading to the semifinals.”
