After barging into the win column of the 2019 PSL Invitationals a day ago, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers sustained momentum, dispatching Generika-Ayala in four sets, 15-25, 25-16, 25-13, 25-14, at the Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex, Tuesday.
The defending champions endured an early offensive onslaught from the Lifesavers in the opening salvo. They then buckled down to business in the next three sets, leaning on their vaunted defense at the net to rise to 2-1 in Pool B.
“Nung first set, masyado kaming nag-relax, tapos sobrang complacent namin na kaya namin yung game,” said Desiree Cheng, who finished with eight attacks and three service aces for 11 points, alongside 19 excellent digs and eight excellent receptions.
“But at the end of the set na-realize namin na lahat ng teams lumalaban, and kailangan namin mag-stick sa game plan namin, so nagawa namin siya sa succeeding sets,” she added.
Kim Kianna Dy and F2 Logistic skipper Aby Maraño fortified a wall that made all the difference. The Cargo Movers out-blocked Generika-Ayala, 15-4.
Dy collected five kill blocks to go along with nine attacks en route to 14 points. The product of La Salle also had 11 excellent digs to post a double-double in a winning cause. Maraño added three rejections for nine markers, while Ara Galang chimed in 13 points.
Majoy Baron made her presence felt on the service area with three of her 11 markers coming via aces. F2 Logistic setter Kim Fajardo dished out 15 excellent sets.
The Lifesavers controlled the attacking department with a 44-38 differential; however, the Cargo Movers were more efficient with their plays, only surrendering 18 errors to Generika-Ayala’s 28.
Fiola Ceballos topped her team with 18 points, as Mean Mendrez added 15. Patty Orendain managed eight markers, while Jamie Lavitoria scattered 10 excellent sets and 14 excellent digs.
F2 Logistics shall face the Foton Tornadoes Blue Energy on Tuesday, October 8, at the Bacoor Strike Gym. On the same day, Generika-Ayala seek to regain their winning ways when they square off against the Sta. Lucia Lady Realtors.
