All eyes on Kai Sotto whether he stays or heads to Europe

Kai Sotto will have a big decision to make this summer. Does he want to stay in the Philippines or does he want to play in Europe?

Even the 16-year-old wunderkind can’t offer a definitive answer just yet.

“Siguro before NBTC or after. Basta this summer, hindi mahirap na mag-decide ako.

“Yung tatay ko naman sinasabi naman niya lahat. Open siya sa’kin. Talagang transparent siya. Kaya ako more of nagtatanong lang ako sa kanya, at umu-oo o hindi lang ako sa kanya. Magde-decide kami siguro ngayong summer,” the second-generation cager disclosed, Monday during the 2019 Chooks-to-Go/NBTC National Finals press conference.

According to multiple sources closely monitoring the situation, the deadline set by numerous European club teams had already lapsed. Originally, the Sottos were given a deadline of February 28 for them to make their choice – weeks after the UAAP Season 81 Juniors Basketball Finals had ended.

Though clubs like Real Madrid, Barcelona, Baskonia, and Alba Berlin have offers on the table, the team currently leading the race is Estudiantes of Spain. Moreover, renowned agent Teddy Archer is currently in the country to try to sway Sotto once more.

Still, the best under-17 center in Asia plans to just treasure every moment with the Blue Eagles come the NBTC National Finals.

“‘Di naman sa magpa-impress. Mag-focus lang ako sa team ko and more of enjoy ko lang yung moment ko dito.”
