Ex-Letran Knight De Villa to play for Eastern Long Lions in HK A1 league

There’s a Filipino that will play in the 2021-22 Hong Kong A1 Division.

Letran product Joshua De Villa has been re-signed by the Hong Kong Eastern Long Lions.

De Villa, 26, is a citizen of both Hong Kong and the Philippines.

The 6-foot-6 forward transferred from La Salle to Letran in 2016.

Come the NCAA Season 93 tournament, he played his sole year with the Knights, playing in just three games under Jeff Napa.

He went on to play for Manila and Pasay in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League.

During the Datu Cup, he produced 1.92 blocks per game — second-best during the season.

In the Lakan Season, he played only nine games for the Voyagers.

He has since come back home to Hong Kong.

“I really want to prove my strength to my coaches and teammates, and to be more steady on the court,” he said about trying to repay the trust given to him by Eastern head coach Željko Pavličević.

Eastern begins its campaign on Wednesday.
