Ever Bilena takes down sixth MelMac Cup leg

The Ever Bilena trio of Afril Bernardino, Tina Deacon and Ria Nabalan stifled Careline’s Gemma Miranda, Camille Escoto, Chack Cabinbin, and Alyssa Parel in the Finals of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 MelMac Cup Leg 6, 21-14 (7:38), Sunday.

Bernardino unleashed 10 points for her squad, Deacon contributed seven markers, while Nabalan posted four.

The Gilas Women stalwart scored the game-winner at the 2:22 mark after she cleaned up her own miss under the basket to bring home their fifth overall crown and an additional P20,000.

“Masaya [kami sa panalo]. Tulong na rin ‘to for the upcoming SEA Games,” Bernardino said. “Nakakapag-communicate kami ng mabuti sa bawat isa.”

In the side event, Darwin Cantong narrowly defeated Michael Alvarez to be awarded the champion of the Chooks-to-Go Harissa Roast Slam Dunk title. Cantong, who won his second crown this conference, won P10,000 for his exploits.
