Ever Bilena romps Blackwater to win first leg of Chooks 3×3 MelMac Cup

Ever Bilena also ruled the first leg of the Women’s Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 MelMac Cup — presented by Gold’s Gym and Coca-Cola — dominating Blackwater in the Finals, 21-9 (5:20).

Afril Bernardino kickstarted the rout with a 5-0 opener. Gemma Miranda then joined the party to extend the lead to a 12-3 affair with 6:58 remaining.

It was all Ever Bilena from there, as Janine Pontejos capped off the victory with back-to-back long deuces to end the match with 4:40 left.

Bernardino and Pontejos scored six points apiece. Miranda added five points, while Khate Castillo got four built on a pair of two-pointers.

Ever Bilena took home the championship, as well as the P20,000 cash prize. It also avenged a tight 21-18 defeat in pool play.

Chack Cabinbin led Blackwater with four points in the runner-up finish to take home the P10,000 consolation.

David Carlos also claimed the Chooks-to-Go Harissa Roast Slam Dunk Contest to take home the P10,000 prize.

Leg two of the Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 MelMac Cup continues on Saturday.

The Scores:

Ever Bilena 21 — Bernardino 6, Pontejos 6, Miranda 5, Castillo 4.

Blackwater 9 –– Cabinbin 4, Chan 2, Penaranda 2, Nabalan 1.
