Emotions ran high while NLEX battled NorthPort in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup quarterfinals Monday.
Road Warriors center Poy Erram and teammate Paul Varilla were both thrown out of the game with only 4:54 remaining following an altercation between them.
The commotion started when Varilla charged towards opposing import Michael Qualls just moments after the latter attacked his defense and inadvertently landed on Varilla’s chest.
Erram then came to the defense of Varilla, swinging his arm at Qualls and hitting the the lanky American’s nape.
Varilla, on the other hand, elbowed Christian Standhardinger, who was just trying to control the situation.
Referees awarded six free throws to NorthPort.
