Dwight Ramos outdueled Thirdy Ravena in their first-ever meeting, helping Toyama take a 92-77 victory over San-En in the 2021-22 B.League season, Saturday at the Toyama City Gymnasium.
Ramos got 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting in the contest with three rebounds and an assist. On the other hand, Ravena had 13 points on three treys, three assists, and a rebound.
And it was a huge third quarter swing that paved the way for the Grouses’ victory.
With Toyama down 39-40, the Grouses went on a 32-point quarter while limiting the NeoPhoenix to just 14 points to gain a 71-54 lead. Julian Mavunga had eight points in the quarter.
Ramos gave Toyama their biggest lead of the game, 92-72, after a triple with 1:18 left.
Mavunga had 22 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and two steals for Toyama. Meanwhile, Joshua Smith added 21 points and 11 rebounds.
Bryce Johnson also tallied a double-double with 12 points on perfect 6-of-6 shooting from the field with 11 rebounds. Keijuro Matsui chipped in 13 points on three treys.
Toyama rose to 3-10, notching its first winning streak of the season, while dropping San-En to 3-10.
Robert Carter led San-En with 16 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, while Justin Knox added 11 points. Elias Harris missed the game.
The two teams face off again tomorrow.
