Dwight Ramos misfires as Toyama’s B.League streak snapped by Ryukyu

Toyama saw its three-game winning streak snapped in the 2021-22 B.League Season, bowing to Ryukyu 66-91, Saturday at Okinawa Arena.

The Grouses were riding their first winning streak into the contest but the Golden Kings’ depth proved to be too much.

Already behind 48-34 at the half, the Golden Kings pushed the pedal in the third canto, scoring 22 points while limiting the Grouses to just 14 points.

Allen Durham and Hayato Maki joined hands during that frame, combining for 15 points with the latter knocking down two triples.

Durham would extend Ryukyu’s lead to as high as 26 points, 66-40, after back-to-back buckets with 3:52 left in the same quarter.

Ryukyu’s lead would only go down to as low as 17 points in the final frame.

The Golden Kings saw six players score in double-figures with Durham leading the way with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Ryuichi Kishimoto got 12 points while Maki, Koh Flippin, and Jack Cooley all had 11 points each. Cooley also had nine rebounds.

Ryukyu went up to 11-3, winning eight of their last nine games.

Toyama, who dropped to 4-11, was paced by Bryce Johnson, who had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Julian Mavunga was limited to just 10 points on 4-of-12 shooting.

Dwight Ramos also struggled in the game, finishing with just six points on 3-of-9 shooting with four rebounds and two assists. The Filipino-American had two errors.

The two squads face off again tomorrow.
