“This belt is not for me, it’s for all of you,” Brandon Vera promised to the Filipino audience during the weigh-ins.
In front of a jampacked SM Mall of Asia Arena, Brandon Vera made true to this promise in quickly disposing of late replacement Paul Cheng to be the inaugural ONE World Heavyweight Championship in front of his fellow countrymen.
Vera immediately landed a huge head kick that resulted to a cut to the left eye of Paul Cheng. After a short exchange, Vera landed a huge right head kick to knock Cheng down. After three hammerfists, and just 26 seconds into the bout, the Taiwanese was knocked out while Vera dropped down in tears.
After a long-journey, Vera has now gone full circle as he finally finds gold. Moreover, he did it in his home country.
