DLSU FSA Ben Mbala leads Cameroon to Afrobasket QF

Reigning UAAP Most Valuable Player Ben Mbala is currently tearing up the 2017 FIBA Afrobasket as he led Cameroon to the quarterfinals of tournament after an 81-77 win against Rwanda, Sunday evening.

With the win, Cameroon finished with a 2-1 record in Group C.

The 22-year-old scored 15 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in the game. And this is just a normal statline for Mbala in the tournament as he is averaging 18.3 points and 10.0 rebounds while playing the three spot.

During Cameroon’s sole loss so far against Tunisia, Mbala finished with 15 points and six rebounds. He was able to follow it up with a 24-point, six-rebound, and four-steal outing during their 98-54 win against Guinea.

Mbala and his team though will likely face powerhouse Nigeria in the next stage of the tournament.

However, with Cameroon making it to the playoffs, the country has already exceeded its ninth place finish from the 2015 edition of the continental meet.
