With few available options in the collegiate market today, B.League and KBL teams are looking to tap proven PBA pros in their roster.
It started last month when Fukushima signed former Northport ace Robert Bolick.
Another player one B.League team is looking to add is NLEX veteran Kevin Alas.
When asked, Alas confirmed that one B.League team has expressed interest in signing him. A source added that the team is located in the Nagano Prefecture.
“Yes, yes, may team na nag-express ng interest na kunin ako,” Alas confirmed to Tiebreaker Times.
The 31-year-old guard though had to politely decline. After all, it was NLEX who was with him through the good times and the bad.
Alas has been with the Road Warriors since 2015.
During his stay there, the second-generation cager experienced a couple of major injuries. Moreover, he had to take leaves sometimes to tend to personal matters.
Still, NLEX never gave up on him.
“Sa NLEX kasi talagang family ang turing nila sa akin. Kahit ang dami kong pinagdaanan over the past eight years, hindi nila ako pinabayaan,” said Alas. “Kaya hindi ko rin sila kayang iwan.
“Gusto ko dito na matapos ang career ko at gagawin ko ang lahat na i-lead yung team kahit sa isang championship.”
Now in the prime of his career, he knows that this might be the last time an overseas offer will come his way.
Still, Alas has no regrets about the decision he made.
