After National University’s win over Far Eastern University last Saturday, Shaun Ildefonso fired an opening shot at his brother Dave saying, “Hindi makakakita ng bola sa amin yun.”
Well, Dave heard it loud on clear as after Ateneo’s triumph over arch-rival La Salle, the 21-year-old responded to his brother.
“I’m just really excited and I just wanna say na what my brother said na I won’t be able to get the ball, we’re 16 deep and we’re just ready to face it all together as a team.”
Dave’s history with the Bulldogs has been well-publicized.
During the summer of 2018, Dave, a product of Ateneo High School, decided to pursue his college education in NU.
His reason was so he could join Shaun — who transferred from Ateneo to NU in 2017 — and his dad Danny — an NU great and part of the Bulldogs’ coaching staff.
Dave flourished with the Bulldogs, averaging 16.18 points, 5.25 rebounds, and 2.46 assists per game. Though he was able to get the numbers, the wins could not come.
And he decided to come back home to Ateneo in early 2020.
On Tuesday, he gets to meet his former team at 7:00PM. Definitely, it will be a highly-charged game as it will be played in front of fans.
Dave knows it, stressing that he has no bad blood with the Bulldogs.
“In all honesty, I’m excited to play against NU.
“I’m really excited to face them as a team and I was enjoying how everything was going for our team during this Ateneo-La Salle game because I truly was enjoying and I really was having fun with my teammates and having fun playing coach Tab’s [Baldwin] system, the wonderful system that it is,” he said.
