Dave Ildefonso’s next chapter in his pro career will take him to where his father made his name.
The son of Danny Ildefonso will be entering the 2024 PBA Rookie Draft. He made his declaration during Strong Group’s practice at Gatorade Hoops Center on Tuesday evening.
“Gusto ko lang din ma-follow yung footsteps niya and ma-try ma-achieve yung mga na-achieve niya,” said Ildefonso.
Ildefonso, 24, made his professional debut in the Korean Basketball League with Suwon KT. He played a total of 44 games with the Sonicboom during his two-year stay there.
“Competition is going to be tough in the PBA,” he said. “Coming in as a rookie, kahit I’ve played professionally, I expect them to be physical and throw me off course, pero I’m going to stick with what I already know.”
Ildefonso is expected to be a top-three pick in the upcoming rookie draft, either getting picked by Blackwater at two or Terrafirma at three.
Dave, however, is looking forward to one thing in particular – facing his brother Shaun, who is with Rain or Shine.
“Gusto ko rin makalaro or makalaban si kuya,” he said.
