Davao Occidental has put up its franchise in the Chooks-to-Go Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League up for sale.
This as the Tigers have been named as one of the founding members of new regional league Pilipinas Super League.
“The Davao Occidental Dumper Tigers – Cocolife owned by congresswoman Claudine Bautista-Lim, governor Claude Bautista, and Dinko Bautista has joined the Pilipinas Super League,” said the league’s statement.
The Tigers have a cracked roster headlined by Jerwin Gaco, John Wilson, and Paolo Hubalde.
Completing Davao Occidental are Keith Agovida, Alwin Alday, Marco Balagtas, Emman Calo, Robby Celiz, Bonbon Custodio, Gab Dagangon, Chris Lalata, Irven Palencia, Billy Ray Robles, Allan Santos, and Joseph Terson.
Davao Occidental joined the MPBL back in 2018, making it to the Datu Cup Finals before bowing to San Juan.
In the next season, the Tigers were able to cop the Lakan title against the same Knights team.
Also joining the league are the returning Cagayan Valley, the Pagadian Explorers, Tsada Kagayan, Basilan Peace Riders, and teams from Danao, Lapu-Lapu, and Boracay.
Running the PSL are former VisMin Super Cup CEO Rocky Chan and COO Chelito Caro.
Chan resigned from the league last December 22.
“It is with deep sadness that I am officially stepping down as the CEO of the league to pursue a better opportunity which will be known to the public in the coming days,” Chan said.
Also supporting the new league are Cocolife, Dumper, Phenom Sportswear, Malyab, Tri-Energy Corporation, and WCube Solutions.
