Kingad, Osenio take home contrasting results

The young guns of Team Lakay take home contrasting results to open ONE Championship’s Age of Domination card, Friday evening at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

Kingad cans Toquero

After being called a “throwaway fighter” during the build-up to the fight, Team Lakay’s Danny Kingad (4-0) let his fists do the talking, shutting Eugene Toquero (8-4) up with a flash armbar in just a solitary round.

The young Team Lakay stalwart surprised the former ONE World Flyweight Championship challenger down to open the bout. From there, Kingad toyed with Toquero on the mat, eventually securing an armbar with 34 seconds left that resulted to a quick tapoout.

Osenio’s two-fight streak snapped

April Osenio (2-2) succmbed to a rare submission by the steamrolling Jenny Huang (5-0).

A loose April Osenio started the bout connecting with huge body kicks. Finding range, the 22-year-old closed in, attempting a standing guillotine choke on Huang. Huang though was able to take advantage of it, securing a takedown and take the Baguio-native’s momentum away. With less than a minute and 30 seconds to go in the round, Osenio was able to get back up, land a knee to the body, and attempt another guillotine. The Taiwanese fighter though was able to kip back up and end the round on the stand-up.

Both fighters though where inactive during the first half of the seconnd stanza. After being warned by the official, Osenio tried to be the aggressor but was immediately taken down by the Taiwanese. With two minutes left, Huang was able to have her way with the Filipina on the mat. Huang was able to lock in a rare gogoplata choke to secure her fifth win in a row.
