Converge ICT Solutions will carry the Fiber Xers moniker ahead of its entry into the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) starting in Season 47.
The newest ball club made the unveiling during its official launch at the Edsa Shangri-la Manila on Tuesday. This, just weeks after acquiring the Alaska franchise.
Indeed, the nickname came from the internet provider’s flagship service.
The team also unveiled its mascot, carrying over the tradition of the Aces that had the recognizable E.Cow during its run in Asia’s pioneering pro league.
Present at the event were Converge ICT founders Dennis Anthony Uy and Grace Uy, as well as PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial.
The new team owners, together with Marcial, signed the ball to signify the company’s participation in the league.
Of course, Converge wants to start its campaign with a bang, not just for the company but also to repay the trust given to them by the PBA.
“Our tagline as a company is ‘Experience Better.’ Hindi lang ito motto sa amin but it’s a mission to provide and to serve Filipinos,” said Uy. “We provide them exactly better than they are used to doing. We want to bring them the best and we’ve been doing this since Day One of the company.
“This is the mindset that we are building for the PBA and we will be a game-changer with our passion and drive to give a better experience to all our loyal PBA fans. This goes to show that we are here to compete and we are here to compete to win. Palaban kami kahit sa labas ng court.”
Team governor Chito Salud echoed his boss’s statement saying, “We didn’t join the PBA to be an embarrassment and we will do our best not to be that.”
Head coach Jeff Cariaso was also present, together with former Aces players.
