Countdown to Manila OQT: 38 days
Although Jordan Clarkson is not part of the Gilas Pilipinas pool, the Fil-Am Los Angeles Lakers guard said he has ‘a lot of confidence and trust’ in the squad when asked about the Philippine national basketball team’s chances in the upcoming FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament here.
“I’ll just be there to support them like I am on the team. I am on the outside looking in but I have a lot of trust and confidence in them to get it done,” Clarkson said.
Clarkson arrived in Manila last Friday night to grace Nike’s unveiling of the new Gilas jerseys.
The 23-year-old NBA sophomore said every visit to the country gives him excitement.
“Every time I come here I just feel the love,” Clarkson, who even surprised a young baller in Manila during his short stay, said.
Clarkson will stay in Taguig City and watch the Gilas Practice in Shangri-la Hotel. Tiebreaker Times reported earlier that Clarkson may be in attendance for the Ateneo-La Salle Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Premier Cup match.
