The next batch of Gilas pool members should have entered the Inspire Sports Academy on January 22, but CJ Perez could not wait for that date.
Perez travelled from Pangasinan to Calamba, Laguna to join the rest of the pool, Friday.
The 27-year-old arrived around 3PM, and immediately took his RT-PCR test before entering the state-of-the-art facility.
Perez, a candidate in the PBA Best Player of the Conference race, left the PBA bubble in Clark last November 12. He averaged a league-high 24.36 points, 6.82 rebounds, 4.27 assists, and 2.0 steals per game.
Perez played in the first window of the 2021 FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers. He tallied 11 points, seven rebounds, four steals, and three assists in Gilas’ 100-70 win over Indonesia.
Already inside the Calambubble are Kiefer Ravena, Isaac Go, Matt Nieto, Mike Nieto, Rey Suerte, Javi Gomez de Liaño, Dave Ildefonso, Justine Baltazar, Calvin Oftana, William Navarro, and Kemark Carino. The first batch arrived last Sunday.
Gilas take on South Korea on February 18, Indonesia on the 20th, and Korea again on the 22nd in Clark.
