Chris Koon begins post-Ateneo journey with Strong Group

Strong Group finalized its roster for the upcoming 34th Dubai International Basketball Championship, set to take place from January 24 to February 2, 2025, with the addition of former Ateneo standout Chris Koon.

Koon, a 6-foot-5 guard, played his final collegiate season during UAAP Season 87. He averaged 7.58 points, 4.17 rebounds, and 1.83 assists per game.

His inclusion marks the beginning of his pro career with Strong Group where he will reunite with former Blue Eagles Ange Kouame and Dave Ildefonso.

“He has good size as a wing, can shoot, can defend. I think he will be a good role player for us. And we all know he’s been well coached and comes from a great school and program, so it’s good to have him,” said Strong Group head coach Charles Tiu.

The Strong Group Athletics team is now complete with a blend of local and international talents.

Also part of the Athletics team are Mikey Williams, Rhenz Abando,  Jason Brickman,  Andray Blatche,  Allen Liwag, Tony Ynot, and Justine Sanchez.

The squad is further bolstered by American imports DeMarcus Cousins, Malachi Richardson, and Terry Larrier.

Last year, Strong Group fell to Al-Riyadi in the Final.
