Colegio de San Juan has scored a blue-chip recruit.
Chris Hubilla will no longer head to University of the Philippines for college, instead committing to Letran.
The 6-foot-4, hardworking Grade 12 forward made his commitment on Saturday and watched the Squires’ dominant 102-64 victory over the JRU Light Bombers to open their NCAA Season 99 Juniors Basketball campaign.
“Blessed and happy sa opportunity na binibigay sa akin. Si Lord na bahala kung ano man mangyari sa career ko,” he told Tiebreaker Times.
It’s a huge U-turn for the 21-year-old native of Bicol as he is a product of San Beda-Taytay.
During his sole year with the Red Cubs, Hubilla averaged 20.86 points, 12.5 rebounds, 2.29 assists, and 1.79 steals per game – earning him a spot in the Mythical Team.
He powered the Red Cubs to the semifinals during NCAA Season 98.
After the season, Hubilla committed to UP, even playing a few games for the Fighting Maroons in Pinoyliga.
Now, he will be part of a rebuilding Knights squad, which has scored a plethora of recruits, including Peter Rosillo, Mark Omega, Drex Delos Reyes, and Emman Galman.
Once he graduates high school, he will be eligible to play five full years with the Knights, starting at NCAA Season 100.
