Balanced scoring and good defense helped CEU defeat LPU with a score of 64-51, on Monday, June 2, at the San Juan Arena. No scorpion was able to score more than 15 points, but multiple players shared the scoring load to give them the win.
CEU players scored in double digits, led by Rodel De Leon’s 14 points, followed by Mon Abundo and Rodrigue Ebondo, who were able to score 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Azez Mbomiko and Dexter Zamora led the Pirates with 12 and 11 points, respectively, but they were not able to get much help from their other teammates, as they were the only players to score in double digits for their squad.
The staunch defense of CEU held the Pirates to only 21% shooting from the field. They now hold a league leading record of 7-0, and will face the San Beda Red Lions.
