The fights will be held tomorrow at the Hua Mark Indoor Stadium, Bangkok, Thailand. The card is promoted by Ekkarat Chaichotchuang, Jimmy Boxing Promotions. Stay tuned for our coverage tomorrow.
Johnriel Casimero is no stranger in competing in enemy territory. In the 23 fights the Filipino knockout artist has fought in, seven bouts were competed with him having a so-called “homecourt” disadvantage. Casimero won five of those seven fights, including his win against Mexican Armando Santos at Nueve Leon, Mexico.
Since losing the interim WBO Light Flyweight championship in 2010, Casimero has been on a tear in winning his last seven fights with five coming by knockout, including winning the IBF Light Flyweight crown and successfully defending it three times. However, Casimero was stripped of his IBF Light Flyweight Championship in his bout last year at Cebu City. Casimero failed to make weight and as a result of him beating Mauricio Fuentes, the title had to be vacated.
His opponent, Amnat Ruenroeng is currently unbeaten. In his 15 fight rampage, Ruenroeng has beaten seven Filipinos, including Rocky Fuentes, to win the vacant IBF Flyweight Championship, last January 22, 2014. His biggest win in his career happened last March 8, at the Showdown at Sands card, as he defeated one of China’s most promising stars, Zou Shiming, by Unanimous Decision.
