Terrafirma head coach Johnedel Cardel is hoping for better results this time around with Lester Prosper back for the 2022 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The Dyip signed up the 6-foot-9 slotman for the mid-season conference set to begin on September 21, marking another go-around with the same import they hired the services of back in the 2019 edition of the said tilt.
“Nananalo kami noon with Lester, sana mas marami pang panalo ngayon,” the seasoned mentor told Tiebreaker Times.
Prosper, 33, was first brought in by Terrafirma — then carrying the Columbian banner — as a replacement for Kyle Barone after a 0-3 start.
With him, the Dyip garnered much-needed wins and vied for a playoff spot all the way to the latter part of the eliminations. They finished with a 3-8 card.
Their last game with him was against Barangay Ginebra last July 14, 2019. They lost, 123-127, but not before sending the game into overtime with Prosper leading the charge with a career-high 45 points and 18 rebounds.
The Miami-based cager averaged 33.6 points on a 50-percent clip from the field, 16.9 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.7 blocks across seven games.
Opportunities opened up for him after that stint. After reinforcing San Miguel in Asia League’s The Terrific 12, Prosper became the naturalized center of Indonesia, where he played for Timnas in the FIBA Asia Cup 2021 Qualifiers.
Now, he’s set to represent Terrafirma anew as the ball club hopes to end a playoff drought that has lasted for 12 conferences now.
Prosper is the latest import to be unveiled for the next conference after Johnny O’Bryant III (Meralco), Cameron Krutwig (Blackwater), another returnee from 2019 in Prince Ibeh (NorthPort), and Quincy Miller (Converge).
