BOCAUE — Gilas Pilipinas is on a roll, with their sixth window victory already under their belt.
But for captain Kiefer Ravena, it’s not yet time to celebrate. The team’s focus is already set on their next game against Jordan on Monday still at the Philippine Arena here.
Gilas Pilipinas already beat Jordan on their home turf during the last window, so Ravena knows that the opposing team will come in strong, seeking revenge.
“Tinalo natin sila the last game sa home nila. They will have a lot of energy and the desire to bounce back,” Ravena said.
As the 29-year-old floor general finished with eight points, four rebounds, and five assists against Lebanon, he knows that the team needs to be prepared. The game on Monday is the team’s final game before the World Cup, so they don’t want to end on a loss.
Ravena said, “Just like us, ayaw naming matalo sa huling laro. Lalo na’t eto yung huling window and World Cup na ulit.”
Gilas Pilipinas made a record during their last game, hitting 17 three-pointers, tying Japan’s record against Iran the day before. Ravena hopes that the team will continue to shoot well against Jordan.
“Hopefully hindi siya naubos,” he said, referring to their three-pointers.
“Makikita natin pag nasho-shoot natin yung tira sa labas nabubukas talaga yung mga ano natin, for Junemar [Fajardo], Justin [Brownlee], Mason [Amos], diba lahat kaya nang shumoot?”
For Ravena and the rest of the Gilas Pilipinas team, it’s about getting the job done on Monday.
