Buytrago-Requinton, Bonono-Garcia off to rousing start in SEAG Beach Volley


The Philippine Men’s National Beach Volleyball Team dominated to open the Men’s Beach Volleyball Tournament of the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

The duos of James Buytrago-Jaron Requinton and Jude Garcia-Edmar Bonono romped Timor Leste, 2-0, to take an early lead in the eight-nation meet, Friday at the Subic Tennis Court.

Buytrago and Requinton blasted Timor Leste 1’s Robson Xavier and Christian Jean earlier in the day, 21-13, 21-16.

Later on, Garcia and Bonono romped Silvano Aduauo and Denyanos Belo, 21-7, 21-16.

Other games scheduled today are Thailand versus Vietnam; Indonesia versus Malaysia; and Singapore versus Cambodia.

The Philippines will next face Malaysia on Sunday, December 1 at 5:30 pm.
