Brooke Van Sickle makes grand introduction, takes PNVF MVP

Filipino-American outside hitter Brooke Van Sickle wasted no time making her mark in Philippine volleyball.

The former US NCAA standout was named the Most Valuable Player of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) just moments after leading Petro Gazz to the championship on Saturday night at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Van Sickle also earned one of the Best Open Hitter awards, sharing the honor with teammate Jonah Sabete, who received the Player of the Game accolade in the title match against Cignal.

Another Angel, Remy Palma, secured an award as well, winning the Best Middle Blocker title alongside Chery Tiggo newcomer Aby Maraño.

Cignal’s Dawn Macandili-Catindig and Gel Cayuna were recognized with the Best Libero and Best Setter awards, respectively, while Gayle Pascual of the College of St. Benilde was hailed as the Best Opposite Spiker of the tournament.
