Sunday afternoon saw two of the topflight collegiate teams face each other in San Beda and the De La Salle University. It was a titanic showdown between the reigning NCAA and UAAP champions respectively.
And with the Filoil Flying V Centre packed and evenly split between Red and Green, the student-athletes left it all out on the court.
“As a team, gusto namin i-prove na kami pinakamalakas,” Robert Bolick shared.
The PBA D-League Aspirants Cup Most Valuable Player had extra motivation in the game. Even if it has been three years since he left La Salle, he still wants to prove that the Green Archers made the wrong choice in letting him go.
“Para sa akin, gusto ko pa rin patunayan na nagkamali sila na pinaalis nila ako,” the 6-foot-1 combo guard furthered.
Motivated, Bolick went all-out against his former team, scoring 27 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out six assists. Moreover, the 21-year-old delivered the clutch baskets that helped buck the Green Archers’ comeback attempts — including two key baskets in the last two minutes of San Beda’s 82-80 win.
Even with the accolades, the Ormoc City-native continuous to be grateful for the opportunity given to him by San Beda College.
“Nawala talaga kumpiyansa ko nun,” Bolick reflected.
“Malaking pasasalamat ko sa San Beda, na ganito na ako. Lahat ng narating ko, dahil sa kanila to, sila nagpapagaling sa akin.”
Nothing would be more sweet for Bolick than to give San Beda their 21st seniors basketball banner come Season 93.
