Ever Bilena Corporation, the mother company of Blackwater, is ready to face the music.
According to governor Siliman Sy, the Elite will not appeal the PBA’s decision to fine them PHP 100,000 fine, and are willing to undergo swab testing for all of its players as mandated by the league.
Last Monday, team owner Dioceldo Sy went on One Sports’ Sports Page, saying that Blackwater already held a “practice session” last weekend at Aero Gym in Quezon City.
What Dioceldo actually meant was that it was just a “shoot-around” that had two players and a ball boy.
During an interview with Tiebreaker Times, the 62-year-old entrepreneur said he was present because he had a meeting with head coach Nash Racela.
Due to his frustration with the possible probe by the Inter-Agency Task Force and the Games and Amusement Board, Dioceldo said that he would put the team up for sale Thursday night for a cool PHP 150-million.
Sy told Tiebreaker Times that he felt that he was being “bullied” by the league and that GAB chairman Baham Mitra was “nakikisawsaw”.
Since then, Sy has spoken with both Commissioner Willie Marcial and Mitra to apologize.
Besides this, Dioceldo also raised that paying the players in full is a disservice to the hundreds of everyday employees he has that have been furloughed due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
For now, the Filipino-Chinese self-made billionaire vows to reconcile with the league.
