BJ Ang DNR as jet ski still held by Indonesia customs

Filipino ace rider BJ Ang was supposed to begin his 2018 Asian Games campaign on Thursday morning at the Jet-Ski Indonesia Academy in Jakarta.

However, the 34-year-old runabout expert was a DNR (did not ride) during Moto 1 of the Runabout 1100 Stock.

Sadly, even if four days had passed since the continental meet opened its curtains, his Seado-powered craft was still held up by Indonesia’s Directorate General of Customs and Excise.

“His jet ski was at the airport customs since Saturday (August 18). The issue was elevated [to] the Indonesia executive level,” said Team Pilipinas chef de mission Richard Gomez.

The 5-foot-6 Ang, who is an expert in the Endurance Runabout Open and Runabout 1100 Stock, was once a bronze medalist in the 2014 King’s Cup World Championships. He also placed sixth at the 4th Asian Beach Games 2014 in Thailand in the runabout stock event.

Also not released by Indonesian Customs were the crafts of China and Cambodia.

Moto 2 of the event begins at 2:30pm Manila time. And still there are no signs of Ang’s jetski arriving.
