BGSM taps ex-Air 21 import Michael Dunnigan, PF puts Marqus Blakely on standby

Former Air 21 import Michael Dunnigan will make his PBA return in the Commissioner’s Cup, this time to play for the league’s most popular team – the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Gin Kings.
Dunnigan’s agent, Sheryl Reyes, made the announcement on AM Station Radio Aguila on Sunday.
A solid inside player when he first suited up with the Express, Dunnigan is currently playing in the NBA D-League. The 25-year-old frontliner was selected as the 12th overall pick by the Canton Charge.
He’s been averaging 12.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game while playing alongside Arinze Onuaku, the league leader in rebounds, who will be playing for the San Miguel Beermen in the Commissioner’s Cup.
Dunnigan played in the PBA during the 2012-2013 season and averaged 23.9 points, 15.4 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game.
Meanwhile, Purefoods is still in search of an import, but has put reigning Governors’ Cup Best Import Marqus Blakely on standby.
Team governor Rene Pardo told Tiebreaker Times that head coach Tim Cone is in the United States looking for the team’s reinforcement, but confirmed that Blakely, who led the team in capping a grand slam last season, is in town to become an emergency reinforcement in case an import won’t be available in time for the Commissioner’s Cup.
