Berberabe, Tagaytay-Tol aim to halt Discovery-Rizal’s run in WMPBL

The Stefanie Berberabe-led Tagaytay-Tol squad looks to extend its winning streak, while San Juan DN-Steel aims to seize a solo lead in the 2025 Women’s Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League regular season presented by Akari tonight at the Ynares Center Montalban.

Riding a two-game winning streak after dropping their first four outings, the Lady Patriots — buoyed by the all-around brilliance of Berberabe — take on Discovery Rizal at 8:00 PM.

Meanwhile, the Lady Knights will open the double-header at 6:00 PM against RK Hoops-Quezon City.

Tagaytay-Tol enters Wednesday’s matchup fueled by a historic performance from Berberabe, who notched the league’s first-ever quadruple-double of 20 points, 15 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals last week in an 82-70 victory over Pangasinan-Solar Home.

Berberabe will be getting much-needed help from Monique Del Carmen and Bernice Paraiso, as the Lady Patriots aim to upgrade their 2-4 standing in the tourney backed by Uratex, Black Mamba, Red Dynasty, Aktive Balls, and Pocari Sweat.

“Sobrang laking bagay ng pagdating niya [Berberabe], nakikita naman natin ‘yung impact niya sa game eh. Nai-impact niya both on offense and defense eh, so sana magtuloy-tuloy,” said Tagaytay-Tol head coach Tito Reyes.

On the other hand, they will take on a red-hot Perlas squad that has won its last three games, carrying plenty of confidence into the matchup.

The team, currently at 3-2, will be led by the dynamic trio of Allana Lim, Tantoy Ferrer, and Raiza Palmera-Dy, who have been instrumental in Perlas’ recent success.

In the first game, fourth-ranked San Juan DN-Steel (4-2) will take on struggling RK Hoops-QC (1-4), looking to stay tied for first with New Zealand Bluefire-Batangas.

With the seasoned duo of Chack Cabinbin and Janine Pontejos leading the way for the Lady Knights, they are expected to have a relatively smooth outing against RK Hoops-QC.

But RK Hoops-QC, now on a four-game losing streak, will lean on Charmaine Natural and Fionna Gonato in hopes of turning their fortunes around against one of the league’s top squads.
